What to expect
The first class you will meet the instructors and sign paperwork. We will go really slow during the first couple classes and be sure to teach you the basic moves and terminology. After a month, you will start catching on and feeling more comfortable with this new activity. Bring a water bottle or use the water fountain.
What to wear
You will not receive a uniform until you have attended class for approximately a month. Until you receive a uniform, you will want to wear long pants (yoga pants, sweat pants, etc.) and a short sleeve top. Regardless of what you wear, make sure it is comfortable and easy to move in.
Etiquette
Discipline and respect are essential for Taekwon-Do. To get you started on the right foot, here are a couple basic rules to follow. For a complete list, please refer to our Rules and Regulations page.
Students:
Open your ears. The most important thing a new student can do is listen
No food or drink in the workout floor
No running or playing in the dojang
Reply “yes sir” or “yes ma’am” when being talked to by an instructor
Treat others with respect and have fun
spectators:
You are free to talk amongst each other during class. But please keep the volume low out of respect to the students
No food in the school. Beverages are permitted
Please do not talk with the students during class. Unless it is an emergency of course
tournaments
We highly encourage participation in tournaments. Tournaments allow students to show off their hard work and learn from others. All students are required to attend at least three tournaments before testing for Black Belt. Tournaments are held at least four times a year in various locations in the Pacific Northwest.
